Chargers vs Broncos Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets: Defenses Dominate in AFC West Tilt

The Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos butt heads in Week 6 for an AFC West clash.

With both defenses looking dominant, my Chargers vs. Broncos predictions and NFL picks expect little offense in the Mile High City.

Chargers vs Broncos prediction

My best betUnder 35.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

My analysisThe Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers look ugly on offense, but they remain around .500 because of their dominance on the opposite side of the ball.

Denver allows 14.6 points per contest — second in the NFL — and gives up the third-fewest total yards while sitting fifth in least passing yards and 10th in rushing yards. Sean Payton’s defense is doing their job in every single way.

So, what about the Chargers? Well, they’re actually conceding the fewest number of points in the entire league at a mere 12.5. Yes, that makes it hard to believe they’re just 2-2, but it’s because they simply haven’t clicked offensively yet.

Jim Harbaugh’s squad is also Top 10 in every notable defensively category.

The total is set at a relatively low 35.5 here, which could have some skeptical about betting the Under. However, all signs point to this being a gritty affair with minimal points on the board.

Under 35.5Bo Nix Over 189.5 passing yardsCourtland Sutton Over 4.5 receptions

+550 at BetMGM

Just because it’s going to be a low-scoring game doesn’t mean Bo Nix can’t continue to improve under center.

The rookie quarterback has definitely dealt with his struggles this season, throwing more interceptions (four) than touchdowns (three). However, he’s looked better over the last few weeks.

When it comes to this bet, Nix has hit the Over in three of his last four appearances, throwing for 206 yards in Week 5, 216 in Week 3, and 246 in Week 2. Week 4 was the only real stinker.

Josh Reynolds is dealing with a hand injury and will miss Sunday’s matchup. Enter Courtland Sutton. The wideout already leads Denver with 17 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown. With Reynolds unavailable, I expect an even bigger role in the offense for the former SMU standout.

Sutton has only hit the Over 4.5 receptions once in Week 3, but he’s definitely going to be targeted a lot more by Nix because of Reynolds’ absence. This bet does make a lot of sense given the current situation.
