Spanish veteran striker David Villa has announced his plans to leave the MLS after four seasons with New York City FC.
The World Cup winner is nearing the end of his contract with the American side and will leave New York on 1st January 2019.
Villa scored whopping 80 goals in 124 MLS appearances for the Boys in Blue, becoming the club’s first captain in the process.
David Villa has expressed his plans to continue playing. The 36-year-old forward has yet to reveal his plans in detail but reports coming from Spain indicate David Villa could move to Japan.
Joining compatriots Andres Iniesta and Fernando Torres as a third big Spanish attraction in the J.League is a possibility for Villa, who is at the moment being linked with Yokohama F. Marinos.
The celebrated Spanish international David Villa bagged 59 goals in 98 appearances for La Roja from 2004 to 2017. The former Barcelona superstar scored five goals to help his nation claim the 2010 World Cup title after previously leading charge for the European Championship in 2008 with four goals to his name.
