Virginia vs Florida State Prediction, Odds & Starting Pitchers (Sunday, June 16)

Florida State and Virginia faceoff in a crucial elimination game at the College World Series in Omaha on Sunday. Both teams lost their tournament opener on walk-offs and now do battle with their seasons on the line. First pitch is 2pm at Charles Schwab Field (ESPN).

We ve made our UVA vs FSU prediction for Sunday s game, plus examine the betting odds and starting pitching matchup.

Virginia vs Florida State Prediction

Both teams enter this game coming off heartbreaking lossses, but the pain hits differently for the Seminoles. Jarrett Link s club had a five-run lead at one point on Saturday, but the Volunteers staged a comeback that included some questionable calls from the umpire.

Florida State will be turning to Carson Dorsey, who most recently started FSU s opening game of the Tallahassee Regional against Stetson on May 31st. While Dorsey stood out in that game, the 21-year-old appeared in relief against UVA a few weeks ago in the ACC Tournament, failing to record an out while giving up four runs.

Virginia also suffered a tough loss in their opener against North Carolina, despite a strong performance from starting pitcher Evan Blanco. Coach Brian O Connor will now turn to pitcher Jay Woolfolk to try to save the Cavaliers season.

Woolfolk got the start in Virginia s Super Regional win over Kansas State, striking out seven batters. In the earlier matchup against Florida State, Woolfolk pitched two innings in relief, giving up one run.

We are targeting Over 12.5 runs for this game, as the weather forecast is calling for 15mph winds from right to left field. Dorsey has struggled with the Cavaliers batters, while Woolfolk had a 6.96 ERA during the regular season and gave up a homer in his limited action against FSU this season.

UVA vs FSU Pick:

Over 12.5 Runs (-115)
