With all eyes from across the footballing globe falling on America this weekend, we have a host of noteworthy fixtures from the MLS. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Sunday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Sunday July 10th
BST 00:30 Cincinnati vs New York Red Bulls
Starting with the hosts, last seen putting in another professional display, New York should find the mood in their camp at a real high. Picking up a deserved 1-0 victory away at Sporting Kansas City last weekend, the Red Bulls now find themselves leading the chase at the top of the Eastern Conference. Managing to prove that their 2-0 loss against LAFC on June 26th was just a minor blip, Head Coach Gerhard Struber has seen his side gain plenty of praise. Now winning for of their last five domestic matchups, a run that stems over the past month, the Whites have also won six of their last eight outings. Holding a two-point buffer at the top of the table, New York will also be boosted by their most recent meeting against Sunday s opponents. Claiming a 1-0 victory when the two sides faced off at the TQL Stadium last season, Struber s side will be looking to cash in on a Cincinnati side that that have shown some extended inconsistencies. Despite being last seen playing out a 2-2 draw against New England on the road, the Ohio-based outfit have managed to win just one of their previous six domestic contests. Likewise, picking up just a pair of MLS victories in front of their own supporters since March 19th, we re backing an away win for the Eastern Conference leaders.
Tip: New York Red Bulls win @ 6/4
01:00 Orlando City vs Inter Miami
While Orlando might have managed to book their spot in the semi-finals of this season s US Open Cup thanks to a penalties victory away at Nashville on June 29th, the Purples came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Putting in a defensive disaster at home against DC United and eventually getting hit with a remarkable 5-3 defeat, Head Coach Óscar Pareja s men are in the midst of a downbeat MLS run. Now knowing that they re in a battle to clinch a Final Series spot this season, Sunday s hosts have managed to win just one of their last six MLS contests. Showing some extended issues at the back, it should be noted that Orlando have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. Including that eight-goal thriller against DC last weekend, Pareja s side have seen seven of their last eight domestic matchups finish with both teams finding the net. On the flip side, managing to mount a last-gasp 1-1 draw away at Dallas earlier in the week, Phil Neville s men will be desperate to build off of that momentum. Sat within touching distance of breaking into the Final Series spots, the ex-Manchester United defender has seen his side suffer just a single MLS defeat since May 7th. With seven of the eight showdowns between Sunday s opponents finishing with both teams finding the net, we re backing a similar outcome here.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 8/11
02:00 Real Salt Lake vs Colorado Rapids
Starting with Sunday s hosts, coming off the back of what was an action-packed 3-2 loss away at Minnesota last weekend, there is no doubt that Real Salt Lake will be seeking an immediate response here. While Pablo Mastroeni s men might be in the midst of somewhat of a recent rut, RSL will be glad to make a return to home soil. Still battling it out at the top of the Western Conference table and in pole position to clinch a Final Series spot this season, the Utah-based outfit have continued to shine in front of their own supporters. On a run that has seen them pick up victories against the likes of LA Galaxy and Austin, Sunday s hosts are unbeaten in their last five contests at the Rio Tinto Stadium, recording four victories. Likewise, remarkably conceding just a single strike in any of those five home fixtures, Salt Lake should be smelling a chance here. On the flip side, also getting hit with their own 3-2 loss at the hands of Austin earlier in the week, Colorado are enduring a worrying blip. Managing to collect just a single point from any of their last four MLS outings, the Rapids have also recorded just a single victory since the middle of May. It should be noted, with Real Salt Lake landing a 3-1 win the last time they welcomed Colorado to Utah, we re backing a home victory here.
Tip: Real Salt Lake win @ 1/1
